Deer Grazing near the Blessing Cairn by Jessica Macbeth

Mother & Child

This mother and her fawn hang out on the land. Last year she had twins, whom I still see from time to time. I first saw this little one when it was just a day or so old, very shaky on it's legs and not yet interested in eating the flowers. Here, it is about three months old and well able to dine on gardens. They are grazing right next to where the zen circle will eventually be.

Mama Deer. The spindly little tree between her and the camera is the apple tree I planted, hoping that it will eventually provide some of the winter food for the deer.
